The search journal

For the hours after a search. It works without signal, keeps everything on your phone, and packs it up for a lawyer when you are ready.

For you and the lawyer. Don’t mail it into a jail: mail inside is opened and read.

Are the agents still there?

Then don’t film, and don’t use this app yet. Say these words, then nothing else:

Say this, then stay quiet“I want a lawyer. I don’t consent to any searches.”

What to do while they are there

1 Once they leave, do it in this order

Before anyone cleans or moves a thing. Each screen does one job, and each one saves on this phone as you go.

  1. 1RecordFilm the house first. The words to say are on the screen, then you walk every room in silence.
  2. 2JournalTick off the six steps. Write down what is missing and what is broken.
  3. 3PapersPhotograph the papers they left. A drawing shows where the four things are.
  4. 4Send to LawyerLater, when you are ready, send it all to a lawyer from your own email.
  5. 5HelpBack it up, lock it with a PIN, or erase everything.

2 Three things to know first

  • Everything stays on this phone. Nothing you put in it is sent to us, and we couldn’t hand it to anyone, because we never have it.
  • It works without signal once it has opened one time. Open it now, while you have signal, and it will be there when you need it.
  • If this phone is lost, taken or wiped, what is in the app goes with it. Back it up from the Help screen as soon as the video is saved.

To keep it on this phone, open your browser’s menu and choose “Add to Home screen” or “Install app”. On an iPhone, use Safari: tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen”.

Why each step matters: guide 1A

Nothing you put in here leaves this phone unless you send it yourself.
